Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive. If your question isn't answered below, feel free to contact us - we're happy to help.

What is the difference between Vail Dermatology and Skin?
Vail Dermatology is a full-service dermatology practice, where Board Certified Dermatologists and specialized Dermatology Physician Assistants manage all aspects of skin health. We accept most insurance plans. Skin is the aesthetic branch of Vail Dermatology, offering cosmetic treatment options to rejuvenate the skin. We also offer a wide selection of skin care products, all personally selected and tested by our physicians.

Do I need a referral?
Most insurance plans in the area do not require patients to obtain a referral before making an appointment with one of our physicians or physician assistant. If you are unsure about your own insurance plan, please contact your insurance administrator.

At what age should I schedule regular visits?
Skin cancer screenings are appropriate starting in young adult years, particularly in patients who have a family member that has been diagnosed with skin cancer, or in people who have had significant sun exposure, or are very fair skinned.

How are you different from other local providers?
At Vail Dermatology and Skin, all of our physicians are board certified in Dermatology, meaning that they have had years of post-graduate training in treating skin. Our Physician Assistant, and other staff members, are highly trained and educated to provide the latest information and treatments for medical and cosmetic skin needs.

What training does your staff have?
Our staff has been trained to understand the various treatment options that are available, and to provide patients and clients with accurate and timely information. We also pride ourselves on our customer service. We are here to help you through the process from scheduling to insurance submittal.

Are cosmetic treatments for me?
Cosmetic treatment options vary widely, and are different for each person. That is why it is important to have a consultation with one of our physicians or physician assistant to determine what, if any, cosmetic treatment options are right for you.

I'd like my cosmetic treatment kept confidential. Is this possible?
At Vail Dermatology and Skin, privacy is of paramount importance. We follow strict patient confidentiality rules to ensure your privacy.

Can I refill my prescription online?
For prescription refills, request a refill from your pharmacy. They will then contact our office for authorization.

How do I know which products are right for my skin?
Skin carries a broad range of skin care products, and our staff is very knowledgeable about which products are right for different types of skin. Come in for a complimentary consultation with one of our skin care experts.

What is your return policy on products?
If a patient is dissatisfied with a product purchased from Skin, it may be returned within 15 days for store credit.
